Winnie Lam Library 2024-25 | Gokarneshwor

The Winnie Lam Library is a vital learning and community resource for children, youth and adults in Gokarneshwor. It was established to promote a reading culture and provide equitable access to educational materials, and has become a reliable hub where visitors read, study, use digital resources and join community learning activities.

For many local families it offers a safe, quiet and structured place to study that they do not have at home. The library also hosts workshops, small-group learning sessions, book clubs and youth development activities, with trained volunteers and interns on hand to guide visitors.

Total spent across all Education-sector projects in FY 2024–25 – 33.8% of total programme spend. The Annual Report does not itemise cost per project, so this is a sector-wide figure rather than this project alone.

84.7%

Of Sowers Action Nepal’s total FY 2024–25 spend (NPR 27.9M) went directly to programmes, organisation-wide – only 15.3% to administration.

“I live in a family of 9 people in two rooms, so it is very difficult for me to study at home. However, after finding out about Winnie Lam library and coming here, I now have space to study and moreover, I also now have access to reliable internet and a computer, which has been a big help.”

Bibek Thakur, Grade 8 Library user – quoted in the FY 2024–25 Annual Report
