Sowers Action Scholarship Hostels 2024-25 | Girls & Boys Hostels

The Sowers Action Scholarship Program is a fully funded, residential education and leadership initiative for academically capable students from remote and disadvantaged communities across Nepal. It enables students to complete Grades 11 and 12 in Kathmandu by removing the financial, geographic and social barriers that would otherwise stop them.

A key highlight of FY 2024–25 was the opening of Sowers Action Nepal’s first independently operated Girls Hostel in Sundartol, Boudha-06, a secure and supportive home for female students in Grades 11 and 12. The Boys Hostel in Guheshwori continues to be operated by our implementation partner, 100 Group, with Sowers Action Nepal providing full financial support, programme guidance and leadership training.

This year, 22 boys and 3 girls were promoted to Grade 12, and 20 new boys and 15 new girls were admitted into Grade 11.

More than accommodation

Our hostels are learning communities. Every student takes part in our Leadership Development Program, delivered through three practical models:

  • Toastmasters model – regular speaking sessions that build confidence, articulation and presentation skills.
  • Student Council – a participatory platform where students represent their peers and help shape hostel life.
  • Social Service Group – community service that builds gratitude, empathy and civic responsibility.
