Sowers Action Day Care Center 2024-25 | Kageshwori Manohara

Education

The Sowers Action Day Care Center, operated in partnership with CWARDS (Children Welfare and Rural Development Services), provides a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children whose families face heightened socio-economic challenges.

The center primarily serves the children of street vendors, carpet weavers, construction workers and daily-wage labourers – parents whose workplaces are often unsafe for children, making reliable childcare essential. Without early learning, these children risk falling behind in literacy, numeracy, socialisation and classroom readiness before they even start school.

What the center provides

  • A safe and protective environment during working hours
  • Early Childhood Development (ECD) activities for cognitive, emotional and social growth
  • Nutritional support for healthy development
  • School-readiness preparation so children move confidently into Grade 1
  • Support for working parents, especially mothers, to earn an income without compromising their children’s safety

In FY 2024–25 the center supported 50 children – 25 in ECD and 25 in kindergarten – helping them arrive at formal schooling better prepared and less likely to be left behind.

Figures from the Sowers Action Nepal Annual Report, FY 2024–25 (FY 2081–82 BS).
