The Education Support Program at Jhirpu Secondary School was launched by Sowers Action Nepal during the 2023–2024 academic year to address both the educational and nutritional needs of students. The initiative consists of two key components: the Hot Meal Program and the Chinese Language Learning Program, both designed to create a supportive learning environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
The Hot Meal Program was introduced during the 2023–2024 academic year to address challenges related to student hunger and malnutrition, which can negatively impact attendance, concentration, and academic performance. In its first year, the program provided nutritious hot meals to students during school hours, helping ensure they had the energy and focus needed to actively participate in their studies.
The program has contributed to:
By reducing barriers to education caused by food insecurity, the Hot Meal Program has become an important component of student support at Jhirpu Secondary School.
The Chinese Language Learning Program was also established during the 2023–2024 academic year to provide students from Grades 7 to 12 with access to quality foreign language education.
During its first year, students were introduced to fundamental Chinese language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The program received strong interest and participation from students, helping broaden their educational opportunities and equipping them with valuable skills for future academic and professional development.
Since its launch, the Education Support Program has played a significant role in supporting students’ academic growth and overall well-being. By combining nutritional support through the Hot Meal Program with skill development through Chinese language education, Sowers Action Nepal continues to invest in the future of students at Jhirpu Secondary School, empowering them with the resources, knowledge, and opportunities needed to reach their full potential.
