Library Project

Library Project

At Sowers Action, one of our core initiatives is promoting access to knowledge and fostering educational growth. We have implemented library programs in three different locations, each tailored to the specific needs of the local communities. Here’s a closer look at each of our impactful library projects:

1. Library at Set Devi Primary School – Sindhupalchok

Project Overview:
Our first library project was launched at Set Devi Primary School in Sindhupalchok, a rural area where educational resources are scarce. Although the library is small, it has made a significant impact on the school and its students. By providing essential learning resources in this underserved area, we’ve helped create a space where young learners can access books, study materials, and engage in educational activities.

Impact:

  • Beneficiaries: 30 children from Set Devi Primary School
  • Outcome: The library has fostered a love for reading and learning, providing students with valuable educational tools in a rural area where resources are limited.

2. Library at Ngagyur Memorial School – Thankot

Project Overview:
In November 2023, we began our second library project at Ngagyur Memorial School in Thankot, Kathmandu. This project took one year to complete and was designed specifically for the students at this school. The library was created to provide a dedicated space for reading, studying, and promoting academic engagement.

Project Duration:

  • November 2023 – November 2024
  • Total Beneficiaries: 630 students from Ngagyur Memorial School

Impact:

Safe, Structured Learning Environment: The library offers students a quiet, focused space for academic activities, improving concentration and productivity.

Access to Books & Educational Resources: Students now have access to a wide range of educational materials that support their formal education and personal development.

Community Engagement: This library has encouraged students to spend more time reading and engaging with books, promoting intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning.

3. Public Library at Sowers Action Community Center – Kathmandu

Project Overview:
In Kathmandu, we recognized the lack of public libraries where individuals could enjoy reading and access a variety of books and resources. To address this need, we opened a public library at the Sowers Action Community Center. The library provides a space for the local community, students, and individuals of all ages to read, learn, and engage with educational materials.

Location:

  • Sowers Action Community Center, Kathmandu
  • Monthly Beneficiaries: Over 500+ individuals benefit from this library every month, gaining access to books, resources, and a space conducive to learning.

Impact:

  • Accessible to All: The library serves as a valuable resource for individuals across Kathmandu, offering them a chance to improve their knowledge and literacy.
  • Reducing Gadget Addiction: By providing a productive alternative to screen time, the library promotes healthy habits and encourages more time spent engaging with books.
  • Community Development: The library fosters a sense of community learning, helping individuals of all ages develop new skills and stay engaged with educational content.
